Why I'm asking

I'm a parent on the Kāpiti Coast. My 11-year-old has had three Minecraft accounts stolen, the latest one on a Tuesday night in September 2026. A stranger on Discord asked him to "verify" his account with a code. Within minutes the email, name and security details were changed and he was locked out.

Getting the accounts back from Microsoft has been almost impossible: an automated form, a daily limit on attempts, and a phone line that goes nowhere. Meanwhile the accounts are still sitting in my own Microsoft Family group, in my son's name, with the games I paid for on them.

I don't think we're the only family. I want to find out how many others there are, so we can push the platforms and our own government for better protection for kids. That's all this survey is for.
